               Facts and figures


  • Many Youth clubs have been closed down because of government cuts; the government can't afford to provide services for them as they consist of alot of funding and facilities.
  • As a result of Youth clubs being shut down many youth's have turned to the streets; crime has increased at a high percentage from the youth's. 
  • Half of East London's children live in poverty.
  • Children that don't go to youth clubs have nothing else to do than cause trouble e.g. crime.
  • Youth clubs are closing down more rapidly and children are lost and need help, going into the right direction.
  • A Youth club in Cambridge road, Bethnal Green was shut down to create the building for Tower hamlets Sixth Form College; three children that attended that Youth club made protested for months and raised concerned. 
  • As a result of this the Youth club has now been replaced at another location.The older members received an award from the Mayor of Tower Hamlets for helping the community.
  • Youth clubs are made to help troubled children become confident and happy as most members that go there are from troubled homes.
  • Mentors are there to help and also be there for the children if they ever need to talk.
  • Other the past years, Youth clubs have helped to raise a lot of awareness for good courses, take the children on fun activities/trips and in some cases even taken them to other countries. 
  • Everyday they have different activities for children to do after school such as swimming, cooking, playing sports and other outside stuff in the garden, playing on the computer and other wonderful activities such as colouring. In the holidays there are many activities they do as the holidays are the only time children have off school. 
  • A Lot of friends group have increased at Youth clubs more children are becoming more confident.
